Pegu Club
The Pegu Club was a Victorian-style Gentlemen's club in Rangoon, Burma (now Yangon, Myanmar). It was built in the 1880s and completed in 1882 to serve the British army officers and civilian administrators after the annexation of Upper Burma in 1885. It was one of the most famous gentlemen's clubs in Southeast Asia, at par with the Royal Selangor Club of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Tanglin Club in Singapore. It is located on off Pyay Road opposite the Russian embassy and was reportedly off limits to the local Bamars in colonial times. The building is still extant but in a very poor state of repair. Paul Theroux visited the Pegu Club in 1971 and wrote about it in his book ''The Great Railway Bazaar''.〔 ==The Pegu cocktail==
In the 1920s, it gave rise to the Pegu cocktail.
